The GayLussac Institute celebrated the signing of the Social Commitment Certificate, granted by the Maria Preta Institute and the Latin American Institute of Governance and Public Compliance (IGCP) to Brazilian and international companies that demonstrate commitment to anti-racist policies. The school is the first institution in the entire state of Rio de Janeiro to receive the “Racism, not here!” seal, created in 2009 by advertising executive João Silva to encourage social inclusion and respect for diversity.
The seal is already in circulation in countries such as the United States and Austria. It is an integrated mobilization action that aims to inhibit racist practices and promote religious tolerance, through its adoption and display in workplaces, education, cultural, sports and leisure events. After the signature of the General Director, Luiza Sassi, all employees must sign the pledge.
According to João Silva, publicist and creator of the “Racism, not here!” seal: “It is a great emotion to present the seal to an educational institution committed to the racial issue, all the directors, coordinators and collaborators involved in the cause”.
The ceremony was attended by several authorities from the city of Niterói, who honored this historic moment for the institution. Since 2019, GayLussac has formalized its Anti-Racism Policy, shared with the entire school community, promotes teacher training in anti-racist literature and adopts black authors, every year, in the mandatory curriculum from the 2nd year of Elementary School. In 2023, we also received the Azoilda Loretto da Trindade Award and the “Minha Cor tem Valor” seal, in 2023, granted by the Human Rights Secretariat of Niterói. The school was the only one in the city's private network to receive the recognition. Reproduction: https://www.instagram.com/institutogaylussac/
