João Silva, publicist and creator of the “Racism, not here!” seal, celebrates the Federal Senate’s adherence to the issue

I received the following statement from the advertiser João Silva:

“On Monday, November 12, 2024, the Federal Senate reaffirmed its commitment to inclusion by joining the “Racism, not here!” seal, an initiative that aims to inhibit racist practices in Brazil and around the world. The seal, created by Brazilian publicist João Silva in 2009, is endorsed by the Maria Preta Institute and the IGCP, and represents an important step in the fight for equality and respect in various environments, including work, education, cultural, sporting and leisure events.

The accession ceremony was held in the office of the Senate Director-General, Ilana Trombka, in Brasília. The event was attended by the creator of the seal, João Silva, Concita Pinto, president of the Maria Preta Institute, as well as Henrique Farinon, Director of New Business, Danila Duarte, Cristiane Nardes, Director of FIX and Devair Nunes, coordinator of the Senate's affinity and race WG.

I am very happy that Brazil is realizing the importance of combating racism in a simple, peaceful and effective way with the seal 'Racism, not here!'. I hope that this decision by the Federal Senate can inspire other organizations in the country to do the same.” – João Silva, publicist and creator of the seal.
