The Latin American Institute of Governance and Public Compliance (IGCP), a non-profit organization whose mission is to disseminate Governance and Compliance in Brazil and Latin America through human interaction in an integral, ethical and transparent manner, has just formalized a cooperation agreement for certification of the “Racism, not here!” seal throughout the Brazilian territory.
The partnership was signed with the Maria Preta Institute, led by Brazilian designer, creator and advertising strategist João Silva. Through this agreement, several organizations will be able to publicly “affirm their commitment to following the path of justice, respect and equity”, according to Cristiane Nardes, director of the IGCP.
In turn, João Silva says that the adoption of the seal and its protocols by public and private institutions, entities and social organizations and its display in a visible location (such as operating licenses), in on and off media advertising pieces, among other places and devices, “will contribute greatly to tackling the issue and reducing conflicts”.
“Racism, not here!” stamp
Created in 2009 by João Silva, one of the most awarded in the country and author of more than 1,000 brands, among them the two “LL”s for Collor de Melo and the peace symbol for Olodum, the “Racism, not here!” seal has as its main objective to inhibit racist practices and contribute to a peaceful and respectful coexistence among all citizens in Brazil and in the world.
The Maria Preta Institute, created in 2008, is responsible for managing the “Racism, not here!” seal. The institute’s mission is to become a reference center for the promotion and sustainable sociocultural development of Brazil and the world, based on actions and projects that highlight crucial themes, such as diversity, inclusion and the fight against racism, always in line with ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance), established in the 2000s by the UN, to draw attention to relevant environmental, social and governance issues.
“We are very happy and optimistic about this partnership with IGCP, which is a serious and recognized institution, for its work in good governance and compliance practices in Latin America,” says João Silva.
The Latin American Institute of Public Governance and Compliance (IGCP) carries out its mission through the implementation of Governance and Compliance Programs customized for each client, carried out through events, training courses, lectures, workshops, mentoring and training. In 2022, IGCP was awarded first place in the ESG and Compliance category of the Marco Maciel Award, granted by ABRIG – Brazilian Association of Institutional and Government Relations.
For IGCP, the “No Racism Here!” seal is not just a statement, but a commitment to building a community where diversity is celebrated and equality is non-negotiable. Combating racism is not an option, but a collective responsibility.
