Interview: Senate adopts seal to combat racial discrimination

During Black Awareness Month, the Senate took another important step in the fight against institutional racism by signing a cooperation agreement with the Maria Preta Institute. The document, signed on Tuesday (12), formalizes the adoption of the seal "Racism, not here!", which is committed to inhibiting racist practices in Brazil and around the world. Under the leadership of the Permanent Committee for the Promotion of Gender and Race Equality in the Senate (Coprig), the seal will be displayed in campaigns and actions related to the promotion of equality and respect. Created in 2009, the seal is an integrated mobilization action that aims to inhibit racist practices, through its adoption and display in workplaces, education, cultural, sports and leisure events. In an interview with producer Anderson Mendanha, publicist João Silva, creator of the seal, and the coordinator of the Affinity and Race Working Group of the Federal Senate, Devair Nunes, talk about the seal "Racism, not here!" and the cooperation agreement between the Federal Senate and the Maria Preta Institute.
