Cooperation between the Maria Preta and Latin American Institutes of Governance and Public Compliance will take the campaign from Bahia to the entire country
In the last week of 2023, the Latin American Institute of Governance and Public Compliance (IGCP) signed a cooperation agreement to certify the “Racism, not here” seal throughout Brazil. The partnership was signed with the Maria Preta Institute, in Salvador (BA), led by designer João Silva, creator of the brand.
“Based on the agreement, other organizations will be able to affirm their commitment to following the path of justice, respect and equity,” explains Cristiane Nardes, IGCP director for Governance matters.
João Silva says that the adoption of the seal and its protocols by public or private institutions, entities and social organizations, and its display in a visible location, in on and off media advertising pieces, “will contribute to tackling the issue and reducing conflicts”.1
Peaceful coexistence – The “Racism, not here” seal was created in 2009 and, according to João Silva, its main objective is to inhibit racist practices and contribute to peaceful and respectful coexistence among all citizens in Brazil and around the world.”
For IGCP, the seal is not just a statement, but a commitment to building a community where diversity is celebrated and equality is non-negotiable. “Combating racism is not an option, but a collective responsibility.”
